About
Welcome to Irene’s music room. This isn’t just about creating my own music and sharing it with friends, but imparting knowledge. With a BA and Dip Ed in teaching I first started teaching languages, but this was always second to my own love for music. When my own children were in school I began helping at their primary school with music education. I soon realised this was my absolute passion so I obtained a Graduate Diploma in Primary Music Education along with my own AMusA in Organ studies. This soon became my full time career until I stepped away a few years ago. While I’m now semi retired I still teach part time at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and have enjoyed teaching private students too. I have recently moved into Jordan Springs creating vacancies for private students whether adults or young people in general musicianship, Piano, Organ and Recorder studies.
As I said before, I love imparting knowledge. I love the process of sharing knowledge and I love that every child and adult I teach learns differently. For me, teaching is about both moments and the journey. There are those moments when you see a student understand a new concept, and then the ability to look back and see how far they’ve come. The importance of encouraging learning is also a big passion of mine - the opportunity to keep a student interested, work out how they learn, and importantly how to keep them wanting to keep learning. Of course there is the need for practice which does need some dedication, but when students do see themselves improve, it’s as encouraging for me as it is for them.

Learning a musical instrument is not just for children. If you have been wanting to learn but haven’t got around to it, now could be the time!
